The fitting is the fast part of this job and the clean-up is the part that decides whether you are back in six months. Tempered glass does not crack, it collapses into thousands of small blunt cubes, and gravity takes most of them straight down the belt line into the hollow inside the door skin. Left in there they rattle over every bump on Chester Pike, and worse, they get dragged back up through the felt channels against the face of the new pane every time the window travels. So the cavity gets vacuumed out properly, not just the seat and the carpet, and the channels get cleared rather than brushed. On a car that has spent a few winters on the flats near the creek, those channels already hold road grit before any glass gets broken, and grit plus cubes is an effective abrasive.
The other half of the conversation is what happens before we get there. Norwood makes this easier than most places on our list, because so many houses have a driveway or a spot right out front where the van can stand without blocking a lane.
